About Dr. Jacobs

Dr. Michael I. Jacobs is a renowned Manhattan-based, board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in office practice, research, and education. Dr. Jacobs is recognized as a leading diagnostician of skin cancer, skin manifestations of systemic disease, as well as being a leading cosmetic dermatologist.

Medical Leadership & Education

Dr. Jacobs graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude from New York University (NYU) at the age of 20. He received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College at the age of 24. At 28, he entered private practice and was appointed the Director of Dermatology at The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), Cornell’s orthopedic and rheumatology hospital.

He serves as Associate Attending Dermatologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) and The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), as well as Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he teaches Cornell medical students and Cornell dermatology residents.

Dr. Jacobs is the Official Team Dermatologist of the New York Mets. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), and a member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).

Melanoma Advocacy

In 2018, Dr. Jacobs established and became Chair of the Advisory Board for AIM at Melanoma, an international melanoma foundation dedicated to finding a cure for melanoma while improving the lives of those affected by the disease. Based in the United States and working globally, AIM leads collaborative research initiatives and provides comprehensive melanoma education, patient support, and advocacy.

Art & Aesthetics

Dr. Jacobs is also active in the contemporary art world, having participated during the last 20 years on contemporary art acquisition committees at the Whitney Museum, MoMA, Getty Museum, Asia Society Museum, Japan Society Museum, Museum of the Art Institute Chicago, Renaissance Society of Chicago, Johnson Museum at Cornell University, and the Hirshhorn Museum (Washington DC). His passion for photography and contemporary art, beginning during his university days at NYU, has greatly influenced his practice of cosmetic dermatology.
